Library of the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries was founded in 1930. The first scientists at the Institute personally took care of completing the library fund with the most important books on oceanography and fisheries. With the beginning of the series Journal: Acta Adriatica (1932) begins intensive exchange of periodicals with other countries across Europe and the world. In the Almanac for 1938., there were 116 title applications. Over the years the number of journal titles grew and has always been the most important segment of the library holdings siuted to the needs of scientists.
